Fast Fix to Create Healthy Employees
October used to be the begging of the an unhealthy cycle for me.
Work load increased paired with the steady stream of candies, gift baskets, catered food in the office equated into a seasonal weight gain. While working late, I would hit the break room instead of going out and getting a proper meal. After grabbing a few mini-candy bars and returning to my desk, I'd work for an hour before returning for more chocolate.
My story is similar to many in the corporate world. Hard to believe that in offices. sugary candy bars are still the most convenient snack in offices. To eat healthy there's a higher threshold. You have to leave the office, drive past multiple fast food joints and find a place where you can get a balanced meal.
An easier way to create healthy employees is to flip the equation. Make healthy foods convenient and unhealthy foods hard to obtain. Think about this scenario, you're working under a deadline and find yourself in the office. You can either lose 30 - 60 minutes driving out to get junk food or you can grab a few healthy foods from the breakroom. If you're under a deadline, you're going to grab those healthy snack and continue working, which will also avoid that sugar crash.
